The University of Hawaii at Hilo Art Department is celebrating National Poetry Month by hosting Chris King, the creative director for Poetry Scores, an arts organization dedicated to translating poetry into other media.
King will outline the history of Poetry Scores and present a public screening of Blind Cat Black, a 58-minute Poetry Scores silent movie (2007), from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 19, in the University Classroom Building, Room UCB-127.
During his campus residency in Hilo, King will conduct research for a future Hawaii Poetry Scores project that will feature a long poem by Wayne Kaumualii Westlake (1947-1984), said Art Department Chairman Michael Marshall.
