William “Bill” Ham Bottrell, 98, of Kailua-Kona died April 5 at home. Born in Ewen, Mich., he was a retired purchasing agent for AC Spark Plug Division of General Motors Corp. in Flint, Mich., a World War II Army veteran, former chairman of the Boy Scouts Flint Troop 186, life member of the Masons Flint Lodge 23, member of Kona Amateur Radio Society WH6CSA, a navigator and senior member of the U.S. Power Squadron and a U.S. Coast Guard licensed captain on the Great Lakes. Services pending in Michigan. Memorial donations suggested to Hospice of Kona at P.O. Box 4130, Kailua-Kona HI 96745. Survived by sons, Edward (Hazel) Bottrell of Glen Haven, Nova Scotia, Canada, Thomas (Susan) Bottrell of Kailua-Kona, Paul (Mei) Bottrell of San Mateo, Calif.; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Violet S. Henry, 103, of Hilo died March 28 at the Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Waialua, Oahu, she was a principal for the former Piihonua School and retired as principal of Haaheo School, a member of Kamauloa O Ka Malamalama Church of Kurtistown, Grandmother’s Club, Upper Kukuau Kumiai, Hawaii Government Employees Association and the Retired Teachers Association. Sixto C. Padamada Jr., 61, of Hilo, formerly of Kurtistown, died April 2 at the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home.
