The Waiakea High School class of 2013 Manta Rays invite the community to their Junior Country Fair from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday in the WHS cafeteria.
Coordinators promise great entertainment, food concessions, games, a big rummage sale, sweet bread sale and a silent auction. The Junior Country Fair will feature entertainment by Hui Okinawa Kobudo Taiko, Kaleowai, the Waiakea Intermediate School Poly Band and others, and lots of great grinds.
“The huge rummage sale will have tables of new and like-new clothing, sports equipment such as tennis rackets, baseball equipment and boogie boards, guitar, furniture, toys for children and teens, infant items, collectibles, plants, kitchen appliances and goods, electronics, books, CDs, DVDs and many other items,” said event Chairwoman Kellie Iwasaki.
The silent auction will include specialty items from Ben Franklin Crafts, HPM, Sportsline, an ukulele and a floral arrangement from Kui & I, along with gift certificates from Big Isle businesses and restaurants. Gift certificates include a golf package for two at the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel, a Body Glove Hawaii tour, ATV rides, Maui Divers of Hawaii, Body Works massage, Hollywood movie tickets, Safeway, Wal-Mart and Big Island Candies. Gift certificates to restaurants include Hilo Rice Noodle, McDonald’s and Pizza Hut.
The WHS junior class is also selling advance tickets for Vierra’s Sweet Bread to be picked up fair day. For sweet bread tickets, please call 974-4888, ext. 263. The fair is the major fundraiser for the class, with proceeds to subsidize such senior-year events as homecoming, variety show, senior luau, senior prom and commencement/graduation.
“Please help and support the WHS Junior Class to have a successful senior year full of activities and memories that they will never forget,” said Iwasaki. For more information, please contact her at 987-4931.
