UH-Hilo to host forum on Olympic Games
The Laboratory for Exercise Sciences of the Department of Kinesiology and Exercise Sciences at the University of Hawaii at Hilo will present “The Olympic Games: Their Spirit and Their Meaning” at 7 p.m. Friday, April 27, in UCB 100. The event is free and open to the public.
Lincoln A. Gotshalk, associate professor of kinesiology and exercise sciences at UH-Hilo, will moderate a series of presentations covering a wide range of topics, including a brief history of the games, the best of times and the worst of times, the spirit and meaning of the Olympic Games, the 2012 Olympic Games (the Games of the XXX Olympiad) in London, England, the trail of the Olympic Torch Relay, and the Olympic Games from a medical point of view.
Joining Gotshalk as presenters will be Emanuele D’Artibale, assistant professor, kinesiology and exercise sciences; Dr. Douglas Hiller, orthopedic surgeon and experienced Olympic Games physician, and Paula Thomas, communications consultant.
