Maternal health on Hawaii’s sugar plantations will be the focus of a special program at 5 p.m. Thursday, April 26, at the University of Hawaii at Hilo.
Admission and parking are free, and the public is invited.
Sharleen Nakamoto Levine of Honolulu Community College will address “Meanings of Maternity and Medicine for Japanese and Filipino Women on Hawaii’s Sugar Plantations: 1919-1946” at the event sponsored by the UH-Hilo Women’s Studies Program in conjunction with the American Association of University Women.
Levine’s lecture will be from 5-6:30 p.m., with a question-and-answer session to follow, in room UCB-100.
