Nonprofit animal advocacy group Hui Pono Holoholona announces its next low-cost sterilization clinic. Volunteers will hold a spay/neuter clinic for 40 cats at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 28, in the Keaau Eagles building.
Pre-register by emailing webmistress@hphhawaii.org or calling 968-8279. The fee will be $25 for feral cats and $45 for pets. Financial assistance is available. Volunteers are welcome. Cats need to come in pet carriers or live humane traps.
Hui Pono also is recruiting volunteer feeders for a trap/neuter/release cat colony in East Hawaii. If you have dependable transportation, enjoy feeding animals, are reliable and have one day a week — each and every week — when you could feed abandoned cats at 10 a.m., please call the hui at the number listed above.
To assist the hui in its outreach programs, donations of dry and wet pet food, clean used T-shirts, towels and sheets also are welcomed.
Hui Pono Holoholona meets on the second Sunday of each month from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Keaau Village Market. The public is invited. The next meeting will be on May 13. Visit www.hphhawaii.org.
