National Crime Victims’ Rights Week is April 2-28 and will be observed in Hilo with a sign-waving event today from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in front of Hopaco Office Outlet, 280 Makaala Street, near the corner of Kanoelehua Avenue.

The theme for this year, proclaimed by the U.S. Department of Justice, is “Extending the Vision: Reaching Every Victim.”
“Our commitment to extend the vision and reach every victim will overcome the many challenges that confront us now,” Hawaii County Prosecutor Charlene Iboshi said in a written statement. “The vision, determination and passion for justice that inspired our history will help us transform the future for every victim of crime.”
