The Arc of Hilo, a nonprofit organization, partnered with volunteers from the Hilo Rotary Club to facilitate a construction project at the Arc’s Waianuenue Avenue location. The crew members lent their expertise to erect a much-needed roof over the laundry facility and a dry storage unit.
This effort was in conjunction with a Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Foundation service project which generously granted The Arc of Hilo $10,000 toward its “Teens in Transition” program. This pilot program will give challenged students the opportunity to be mentored and guided in their learning/work stages as they transition into the vocational training curriculum. This teen initiative is the only one of its’ kind in Hawai`i.
“The Arc gratefully acknowledges Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Foundation grant award and the assistance provided by the hard-working volunteers of the Hilo Rotary Club,” said Arc Exec Marta Birchard.
