Co-chairs Carolyn Oki and Claire Kawahara invite the public to come and find a special something to celebrate some of the occasions in May.
Cookies, mochi, manju and special crafts are smart choices to help families celebrate Boy’s Day — an island tradition with Japanese roots that falls on fair day.
Choose from an assortment of plants, crafts and cookbooks to create your own gift basket for Mother’s Day on May 13.
Since graduation is right around the corner, too, gift tags, lei tags and cards will help make that rite of passage a bit more memorable.
Bargain hunters also will not be disappointed, said the co-chairs.
Among the many craft items will be handmade rugs, quilted casserole holders, rice pillows and nylon netting scrubbies.
“A must-try is the organic ‘craisin’ cookie bars with varied fruits and nuts. They’re good for you and oh, so delicious,” said Oki and Kawahara. “Come early to make sure you get some fresh coconut turnovers and the many assorted breads, cakes and other baked goods. Pickled vegetables, boiled peanuts, dry soup mixes, and other food items will also be available.
“And browse through the selection of plants and find something to brighten your garden.”
Fair-goers must be present to win one of the many door prizes, so stay and enjoy the performance by the Hawaii Ballroom Dancers.
