Entries for the East Hawaii Cultural Center’s June show, Perspectives on Love, through Art and Words, are due in mid May.
The independent project about cross-cultural, multigenerational thoughts on that universal subject is open to all ages, levels of experience, artistic leanings and genres. A selection of “love notes” also will be displayed, collected from anonymous boxes at home and abroad over the past three years.
Photos of artwork need to be submitted via CD or email by 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 16. Notifications will be emailed to the artists by 5 p.m. on Friday, May 18. Works chosen for the show need to be delivered to the EHCC at 141 Kalakaua St. on Thursday, May 24, between 9 a.m. and noon.
There is no fee for entry, but participants are encouraged to donate to the project’s costs and to the cultural center, in support of community art education. Sales will be handled directly through the center, with the artist retaining 60 percent of the selling price.
