An invitational callback audition, if necessary, will be held on Monday, May 28. The cast consists of approximately 20 performers ages 17 and older who are auditioning for a big musical, and one male actor, 40-plus, to play the choreographer.
Those auditioning will be asked to learn a brief dance routine, read from the script and sing one minute of any prepared song or song from the show. Piano accompaniment will be provided. Karaoke, a capella, or CD accompanied auditions will not be accepted. Those auditioning need attend only one night and are advised to dress comfortably and wear closed-toed shoes. They will be auditioned in small groups in order of arrival.
Rehearsals will begin immediately after auditions and run Sunday afternoons and Monday through Thursday evenings. “A Chorus Line,” with book by James Kirkwood and Nicholas Dante, lyrics by Edward Kleban, and music by Marvin Hamlisch, tells the story of dancers auditioning for the chorus of a Broadway show. The original production was directed and choreographed by Michael Bennett and won nine Tony awards.
It remains the fifth-longest running Broadway show ever. APAC’s production will be directed and choreographed by Lee Vinson, with vocal direction by Sue Boyum and music direction by Dale Ross. Performances will run July 13-28 at the Aloha Theatre in Kainaliu. For more information, call 322-9924.
