Hawaii Learning Resource, in partnership with Assets School, is now accepting applications for summer 2012 Academic Enrichment Camps for struggling diverse learners.

Camps will be held at Hawaii Preparatory Academy in Waimea.

The first two-week camp, Spy Academy, will be June 11-22 for students entering grades 2-5. This camp builds learning skills with an emphasis on observation, focus and listening.

The second two-week camp, Game of Life, will be June 25 to July 6 for students entering grades 6-8. The camp focuses on project-based lessons designed to build learning, team and life skills.

Camps are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuition is $400 per student for each two-week session, including lunch, snacks and supplies. Financial assistance is available to reduce the tuition. Applications are being accepted through June 4.

Download application forms online at www.hawaiilearningresource.org, or call 885-9318. Camps are made possible with grants from the Richard Smart Fund, West Hawaii Fund and individual donors. Hawaii Learning Resource is a 501(c)3 nonprofit whose mission is “To help and empower diverse learners in school and in life,” said spokeswoman Toni Stylos.
