Pahoa High School recently held its athletic awards ceremony for the 2011-12 school year.

Pahoa High School recently held its athletic awards ceremony for the 2011-12 school year.

Jessica Julian and Jake Torres were named the Female and Male Athlete of the Year, respectively.

According to athletic director Ron Tomosada, the team award winners included:

• Girls varsity volleyball: Maxine Block, Most Outstanding (MO); Christine Colobong, Most Valuable Player (MVP).

• Girls bowling: Michelle Laguardia, MVP; Ronalynn Eleneki, most improved.

• Boys bowling: Leka Tua, MVP; Rusty Paulo, most improved.

• Boys cross country: Kristian Abilla, MO; Jake Torres, most inspirational.

• Girls cross country: Ashley Garnett, MO; Nikki Nottingham, most inspirational.

• Boys varsity basketball: Nicklas Fisher, MVP; Sonny Miguel, most inspirational; Devin Freitas-Gonsalves, most improved.

• Boys JV basketball: Ben Gamponia-Padilla, most improved; Kevin Lee, MVP.

• Girls varsity basketball: Randi Berinobis, MVP; Ranchell Berinobis, Miss Hustle.

• Girls varsity paddling: Bethany Viernes, MVP; Shayna Bertilacci, MO.

• Girls JV paddling: Netai Jadu, up-and-coming; Jessica Seagraves, MO.

• Boys varsity paddling: Nahum Cramer, MVP; Ikaika Liwai, MO.

• Boys JV paddling: Pono Hirakami, up-and-coming; Travis Carvalho, MO.

• Boys varsity wrestling: Jake Torres, No. 1 Team leader 2009-2012; Reed Hayashikawa, most improved.

• Girls varsity wrestling: Maile Tadeo, BIIF Champion 2012 98 pounds; Dayanara Tabil, most improved.

• Cheerleading: Shaison Horton, most inspirational; Kellie Cardines, most dedicated.

• Baseball Varsity: Leka Tua, MO; Jaycen Pertubal, coaches award.

• Softball varsity: Vaaigaomata Wilson, coaches award.

• Boys tennis: Kevin Phillips, most improved; Makana Agcaoili, most dedicated.

• Girls tennis: Meghan McGrath, most dedicated; Jessica Julian, coaches award.
