Memorial Day drags

The Big Island Auto Club will hold its Memorial Day points meet on Saturday and Sunday at Hilo Drag Strip.

Pro gas, pro bike, junior dragsters and quick 16 qualifying are on tap Saturday, while ET brackets, bracket bikes, junior dragsters, quick 16 eliminations and sports compact racing will run Sunday.

Gates open at 8 a.m. both days, with the tech shed closing at 11 a.m. Adult admission is $7, and keiki 6-12 get in for a $1.

Challenger British

Soccer Camp in June

The Puna section of the American Youth Soccer Association will help host a camp featuring Challenger Sports’ British coaching staff for players ages 6-18 at Shipman Park from June 18-22.

According to a release, “Challengers’ British Soccer Camp is more than a week of drills and skills. In addition to taking part in a daily regimen of foot skill development, technical and tactical practices and daily tournament style plays, each child will also be treated to a rich cultural experience and lessons on respect, responsibility, integrity, leadership and sportsmanship.”

A session for ages 6-16 will run from 9 a.m.-noon and costs $107, and another session for ages 10-18 will go from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and costs $152.

Each camper will receive a free camp T-shirt, soccer ball, giant soccer poster and an individual skills performance evaluation.

holds pair of races

Kai Mukai, Reese Mills-Richardson, Colt Coakley, Jake Kron, Ashtin Pa‘ahana, Keegan Whaley, Phil Oveland, Rondon Demello, Mason Kron, Kevin Gardner and Jadie Sanborn were among the multiple winners as the 808 Mx/ATV Association held two races this month.

The association’s next race is scheduled for June 10. Bring a canned good to get $2 off the gate fee.
