James “Kimo” Polani Ahu, 71, of Lower Moa’ula, Ka’u, died May 6 at home. Born in Pahala, he was a retired county Parks and Recreation supervisor and member of Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Visitation 8-10 a.m. Saturday, June 2 at Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Casual attire. Survived by daughters, Kimela Ahu, Dallas (Pocho) Olivera, Laurie Ann Mahelona, Shannon (Rollen) Alcoran and Kaleo (Chris) Alexander; son, Iokepa Ahu; brother, Robert Ahu Jr.; sister, Lorraine Pestano; sister-in-law, Elaine Ahu; nine grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Luella Lou Lei Kama Cunningham, 58, of Pahoa died May 16 at home. Born in Kealakekua, she was a waitress at Queen’s Court Restaurant in the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel. Keida Fukushima, 90, of Hilo, formerly of Hakalau, died May 12 at Hilo Medical Center. He was a retired welder for the former Hilo Coast Processing Co. No services. Reynold “Pops” Mitoshi Kaetsu, 70, of Hilo died Feb. 21 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Pahala, he was a retired truck driver for Eagle Distributors. Benjamin Rodrigues, 83, of Hilo, died May 20 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired seafood cutter for KTA Super Stores. Private services were held. Henry “Jay” Abraham Kawaakoa, Jr., 44, of Pahoa, died May 6 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a commercial fisherman and was also a heavy equipment operator for Hamakua Sugar Company, Hawaiian Linen Supply, Loeffler Construction, Puna Certified Nursery, and Kaiulani 4.
