Nomination papers must be submitted to the Hilo or Kailua-Kona offices of the Hawaii County Elections Division.
They can also be picked up at those locations.
The Hilo office is located at 25 Aupuni St., Suite 1502.
The Kailua-Kona office is located at 74-5044 Ane Keohokalole Highway, Building B.
Big Island voters will have a say in 24 local, state and federal elections this year, not including the presidency, in the Aug. 11 primary and Nov. 6 general elections.
As of Tuesday, 57 candidates had filed for those positions.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old, a citizen of the United States, and a resident or registered voter in Hawaii.
Candidates also need at least 15 signatures from supporters within the position’s district.
Filings fees are $75, U.S. Congress and Senate; $250, state House, state Senate, Hawaii County Council, Hawaii County Prosecuting Attorney, and state Office of Hawaiian Affairs board; and $500, Hawaii County mayor.
Discounted fees are available for candidates who agree to abide by campaign expenditure limits.
