The Friends of the Libraries-Kona has awarded $2,000 in scholarships to three Big Island students based on their academic excellence, personal achievement, references and need.
The scholarships will help recipients to complete their Master’s Degrees in Library and Information Science at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
Joy Sherylynne Holland of Kailua-Kona received $1,000. Mara Kjersti Paio of Waimea and Annemarie Aweau of Hilo each received $500.
“An affiliate of Friends of the Library of Hawaii, Friends of the Libraries-Kona has been enhancing the services and facilities of Kona public libraries and enriching the lives of Kona residents since 1988,” said spokeswoman Shirley David. Visit www.folkhawaii.com.
