On Monday, May 21, the sun cooperated over Waimea, and the Parker School fourth- and fifth-graders got to race the solar cars they had designed and constructed in science class.
It was time for the Parker School Solar Grand Prix, and students lined up their vehicle creations on the school’s basketball court.
At their teacher’s flag signal, they let their cars go.
Coordinators reported that several of the miniature toy cars made it to the finish line in record speed.
