The Kona Community Aquatic Center was reopened Tuesday morning following completion of a safety upgrade to the swimming pool’s drainage system, the Hawaii County Department of Parks and Recreation said.
Drain covers at county swimming pools are being replaced with newer, safer versions that meet mandated federal standards to address potential entrapment issues.
People wishing to use the Kona Community Aquatic Center (KCAC) may do so weekdays from 6 a.m.-7:45 p.m. Weekend hours are from 8-11:30 a.m. and again from 1-4:30 p.m.
