Wednesday, the council awarded commendations to 37 individuals, heard testimony from 84 people, and debated nine resolutions and six bills. Lawmakers adjourned at 9:11 p.m., more than 13 hours after the council was called to order.
That leaves 23 bills for consideration and two referrals for executive session. Among the measures pending is a bill requiring payments from the balance of unspent county funds to the employee benefits account, also known as GASB 45.
Bills are also pending to add charter amendment questions to the ballot: one providing for the election of the corporation counsel to a four-year term beginning in 2014, and one specifying that the mayor or the County Council may initiate amendments to the operating budget during the current fiscal year.
A third pending charter amendment would specify that the operating budget “shall not contain any new positions that have not been previously approved by the council by resolution.”
