WAILUKU, Hawaii (AP) — A California woman suffered life-threatening injuries while riding a zip line on Maui.
Fire officials say the 43-year-old from Fremont, Calif. hurt herself when she landed on the middle tower while coming down a zip line at the Maui Tropical Plantation.
KITV (http://bit.ly/Onu0PA ) reports the woman was flown from the tower to an ambulance waiting in front of the plantation. The ambulance took her to Maui Memorial Medical Center.
KITV says she was diagnosed with a femur fracture on her left leg.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser (http://bit.ly/LP9wwX ) says the incident was reported at 10:22 a.m. Monday.
A worker test-riding a zip line on the Big Island plunged to his death last year when a tower collapsed. The state Department of Labor Relations later said weak soil caused the tower to collapse.
