HONOLULU (AP) — A former employee of the American Red Cross Hawaii chapter has been arrested on suspicion of embezzling nearly $53,000 from the organization.
The 62-year-old woman turned herself in to police on Thursday.
Chapter Chief Executive Director Coralie Matayoshi says the missing money was recently discovered because of an accounting irregularity.
Lt. John McCarthy tells the Honolulu Star-Advertiser she was took small amounts over a more than seven-year period.
