Hui Pono Holoholona invites animal lovers to join its members in the annual Volcano Fourth of July Parade, which starts at 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 4, at the Volcano Post Office and finishes at Cooper Center, where lots of fun activities continue throughout the day.

“Come join in the fun, and walk with us down the parade route, showing your support for the animals. This is an opportunity to show your ‘Patriotic and PETriotic Spirit,’” said Frannie Pueo, founder of the nonprofit group.

Hui Pono Holoholona will also have a booth from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cooper Center.

“Please stop by. There will be many activities at Cooper Center and the skate park: food, fun, silent auction, arts and craft vendors, and more,” said Pueo. “It’s a great way to celebrate the Fourth of July.”

Hui Pono regularly conducts low-cost spay/neuter clinics in East Hawaii. Donations are welcome, said Pueo. Cleaned, used large T-shirts and towels are used at the spay/neuter clinics. Wet and dry pet food helps volunteers feed abandoned cats which have been trapped, sterilized and returned to their home colonies.

“If you have the transportation, the tim, and the ability to feed at a site once a week, please contact us,” she said. Hui Pono Holoholona can be reached at P.O. Box 943, Mountain View, HI 96771, webmistress@hphhawaii.org and 968-8279. For more info, visit the group’s website, www.hphhawaii.org.
