At recent end-of-the-year ceremonies at colleges and universities across the nation, the following Big Island residents received diplomas and other honors:
Brianne Dacalio of Naalehu graduated with a bachelor of science degree from Chaminade University of Honolulu. Samantha Lewis of Keaau graduated cum laude from Chaminade with a bachelor of arts degree in broadcasting communication.
Ryan Evan Barlongo of Hilo has earned a master’s degree in exercise science and physical education from McDaniel College in Westminster, Md.
Kristina Lu‘uloa graduated in May from the University of Evansville in Evansville, Ind., with a bachelor of science degree in music. She is a native of Waikoloa.
Kona resident Kimberley Winther graduated from Azusa Pacific University with a bachelor of arts degree in sociology in May.

Rebekah S. Friel of Volcano was named to the Chancellor’s Spring Semester Honor Roll at the University of Tennessee at Martin.
Nora Kharmoudi of Hilo graduated from Ithaca College’s School of Humanities and Sciences in New York with a major in anthropology in May.
Christa Lum of Hilo and Amy Busek of Keaau earned placement on the Gonzaga University President’s List for the spring semester. Students must earn a 3.7 to 4.0 grade-point average to be listed. Also at Gonzaga, in Spokane, Wash., Christopher Andrews of Hilo, Kanoelehua Ho of Keaau and Jacob Tavares of Hilo were named to the dean’s list, for students earning a 3.5 to 3.69 grade-point average. Andrews graduated from Gonzaga in May.
Rio Cole of Hilo graduated June 8 from A.T. Still School of Osteopathic Medicine in Phoenix, Ariz. His three-year residency will be in family practice through The John A. Burns Medical School on Oahu.
Malia Grosskreutz of Honomu was named to the spring dean’s list at The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minn. Honorees have achieved a 3.75 grade point average or above on a 4.0 scale.
Kim Wolforth graduated with a bachelor’s degree in religion from Colorado College. Wolforth is the daughter of Lynne Wolforth of Hilo and Thomas Wolforth of Anchorage, Alaska.
