University of Hawaii at Hilo economics Professor David Hammes will be featured on BOOKTV, carried by C-SPAN2.

His new book, “Harvesting Gold: Thomas Edison’s Experiment to Re-Invent American Money,” was the subject of a presentation June 16 at Basically Books videotaped by Media Solutions Inc. of Honolulu for BOOK-TV.

In the show, Hammes discusses Edison’s short, intense research into the country’s monetary system during the recession following World War I.

The show will air on digital Channel 47 on Sunday, July 8, at 1:45 p.m. It will also be archived at www.booktv.org for viewing at any time.
