The PONY State Regional Tournament for players ages 13-14 will be played Saturday through July 11 at Wong Stadium and Walter Victor Complex. Opening Ceremonies will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at Wong. The State PONY League will be honoring longtime coach James Correa for all the years of service to the PONY League.
The eight-team tournament will feature teams from Oahu (4), Maui (1), Kauai (1), Kona (1) and the host team, Hilo. Chairperson for the tournament is Edna Macanas.
The Hilo Blue All-Star team members include Josh Breitbarth, Eddie Barclay, Ryder Oshiro, Kegan Miura, Isaiah Mahaulu, Makana Aiona, Keian Kanetani, Trevor Shimokusu, Riley Costa, Mckenzy Maesaka, Joey Ongais, Kua Manuia, Hinalea Cortez, Kobie Kinzie, Austin Aina, Manager Shaye Miura, Assistant Coach Clinton Mercado, and Assistant Coach Daylen Asuncion.
RBI teams travel
The RBI Junior Boys (ages 13-15) and RBI Girls (18 & under) softball team will be participating in the West Regional RBI Tournament, slated July 13-15 in Anaheim, Calif.
The winner of the West Regional Tournament will compete in the upcoming RBI World Series iin Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minn.
Members of the RBI junior boys team are Bino Banasan, Devin Iwahashi, Chase Komatsu, Zaynan Sanchez, Noah Serrao, Skye Suzuki, Jordon Tagawa, Tyler Aburamen, Bryce Felipe, DJ Sekiya, Caleb Freitas-Fields, Jamieson Hirayama, Tyler Kitaoka, Kelii Montibon, head coach Kal Miyataki and assistant coaches Royce Ebesu, Blayne Sato, Kevin Yee and Jason Silva.
