The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of Hilo Lodge No. 759 has presented a $650 grant to Hui Malama Ola Na Oiwi, a Native Hawaiian health care system.

The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of Hilo Lodge No. 759 has presented a $650 grant to Hui Malama Ola Na Oiwi, a Native Hawaiian health care system.

“The Elks are pleased to have the opportunity to support the healthcare system’s community outreach programs such as those for smoking cessation, diabetes education and for cancer patient assistance,” said spokeswoman Lisa Fleury, first vice president.

At a recent ceremony, Hilo Elks President Robert Shimamoto delivered a check for the grant to Mabel De Silva, chairwoman of the board of directors of Hui Malama Ola Na Oiwi, and Michelle Hiraishi, CEO of Hui Malama. Miles Nakatsu, California-Hawaii Elks Association vice president and lodge trustee, also participated.
