Sylvia Maureen Abernathy, 75, of Holualoa died July 5. Born in Morganton, N.C., she was an advocate for the blind and attended Mokuaikaua Church. Services 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, at Mokuaikawa Church in Kailua-Kona. Burial to follow at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery. No flowers; donations to National Federation of the Blind, West Hawaii Chapter. Survived by daughters, Sherron (Stephen) Rosenberger of Holualoa and Barbara (Steve) Sangerman of Downingtown, Pa.; sister, Priscilla (Terry) Watts of Hickory, N.C.; one grandchild. Lawrence “Dizzy” Segundo Javillonar, 63, of Waimea died June 11 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Kohala, he was retired maintenance worker for Hawaii Preparatory Academy and a member of Hawi Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Grave Diggers Hui. Visitation 8-10 a.m. Saturday, July 14, at Hawi Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Urn burial at Hawi County Cemetery. Luncheon to follow. Casual attire. Barbara “Bobbie” Ann Kela, 69, of Hilo died June 28 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Honolulu, she worked for C.W. Maintenance and the former downtown Hilo KFC, and was a member of Kuhio Chapel in Keaukaha and Hui Hoopili. Visitation 5-9 p.m. Friday, July 13, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Ann Elizabeth Blanchart Magoon, 78, of Kailua-Kona died July 2 at home. Born in Honolulu, she was a homemaker, past president of Beta Sigma Phi, and volunteer for Castle Medical Center, Kona Community Hospital, Relay for Life and American Cancer Society and a major contributor to Hawaii Isle Police Activities League (HI-PAL), Family Support Services of West Hawaii, member and Silver Life Master recipient of American Contract Bridge League. Celebration of life 9 a.m. Saturday, July 14, at Hualalai Academy Bridge Club. Casual/aloha attire. No flowers; donations to Family Support Services of West Hawaii. Taeko Sanekane Maki, 78, of Keaau died June 26, 2012 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Pahoa, she was a retired anthurium exporter and member of the Waiakea Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Claybourne “Braddah Smitty” Smith, 60, of Hilo and Laupahoehoe died June 9 at home. Born in Honolulu; he was a musician and hope kahu of Ke Ola Mau Loa in Waimea, founder of Laupahohoe Music Festival and member of Big Island Riders and Sons of Hawaii.
