Waimea Community Theatre will hold auditions for “The Good Doctor” Sunday, July 22, at 2 p.m. and Monday, July 23, at 6 p.m. at the WCT rehearsal space at 66-1250 Lalamilo Farm Lot Road in Waimea. For more information, please call director Felicity Johnson at 938-4603.
This production will be presented as staged readings on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 17-18, at St. James’ Episcopal Church in Waimea.
“In readers theater, actors carry their script as a reference as they act. Waimea Community Theatre is incorporating readers theater productions at venues like St. James’ church in order to continue to provide entertaining plays and educational workshops that will expand the interest in and experience of theater,” said Johnson.
“This Broadway hit is a composite of Neil Simon and Anton Chekhov. The stories are droll, the portraits affectionate, the humor infectious and the fun unending,” she said.
The goals of the WCT are to help promote local talent, increase theater workshops for the community, reach out to new sections of the community and to work with other community organizations.
Waimea Community Theatre is an all-volunteer, nonprofit 501(c)3 organization governed by a board of directors and has been entertaining Big Island audiences since 1964.
