KAILUA, Oahu (AP) — A kayak business owner is charged with harassment after spraying water on people protesting commercial activity at Kailua Beach Park.
Bob Twogood says he was just trying to keep protesters cool on a hot afternoon when he hosed them down Thursday.
Protesters showed up as he was about to hold a news conference explaining how a bill banning commercial activity at the beach would harm businesses.
A protester said Twogood pushed a woman and then got a hose and doused the group.
He said called police because he was concerned about the safety of protesters standing on the street. He says when officers arrived he thought they were there to deal with his complaint.
Instead, he was arrested and released after posting $350 bail.
