Maikel Jova drove in Steve Boggs with a single in the bottom of the 11th inning to give the San Rafael Pacifics a 10-9 win over the Hawaii Stars on Sunday afternoon.

The North American Baseball League game was played before 819 fans at Albert Park in San Rafael, Calif. The host Pacifics won five of the six games in the series. The teams return to Hawaii today and will play a six-game series starting at 5:35 p.m. Tuesday at Wong Stadium.

The visiting Stars (18-18) scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning to tie Sunday’s game at 9-9. Then after two San Rafael relievers shutout Hawaii in the 10th and 11th innings, the Pacifics (24-12) won it in the bottom of the 11th.

Boggs reached base on an error and later advanced to third base. Jova then ripped his game-winning single to plate Boggs and give the hosts the 10-9 victory.

Reliever Matthew Durkin went one inning and got the win. Hawaii reliever Roman Martinez took the loss. He pitched 5 1/3 innings, giving up three hits and two runs. He struck out eight and walked one.

Jova and Will Wright each had two hits to lead San Rafael. Jova, Chase Fontaine and Henry Calderon each drove in two runs.

Steve Tedesco led the Stars’ 13-hit attack with four hits and he scored two runs. Jensen Torres had three hits and six RBIs and Anthony Lopez had two hits. Torres and Jason Thomas each hit solo home runs for the visitors.
