Kenji Kanekuni, 95, of Hilo died July 11 at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was the retired manager of the former Hawaii Grocers Ltd. in Hilo. He was a member of the Crescent City Lions Club, Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, Hilo Daijingu, Honomu Henjoji Mission (Odaishisan), and the Yamaguchi Kenjinkai. Private services held. No flowers. Federico “Fred” Vento Jr., 65, of Keaau died Saturday, July 7, at Hilo Medical Center. Born La Feria, Texas, he was a foreman for Hawaii Electric Light Company and a U.S. Army veteran.
