The Big Island Filipino Community Council will host the statewide Miss Hawaii Filipina Scholarship Pageant Saturday night in the Crown Room of the Naniloa Volcanoes Resort. Five Filipina queens from the islands of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui and the Big Island will be vying for the coveted title of Miss Hawaii Filipina 2012 currently held by Topaz Marley Fernandez of Koloa, Kauai.

Five Filipina queens from the islands of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui and the Big Island will be vying for the coveted title of Miss Hawaii Filipina 2012 currently held by Topaz Marley Fernandez of Koloa, Kauai.

Doors open at 6 p.m., with the pageant getting under way at 6:45 p.m.

The Big Island contestant is 20-year-old Ariel Maile Enriquez, a 2009 graduate of Pahoa High School who is an adult supervisor in the state Department of Education. This fall, she will attend the University of Hawaii at Hilo to study pre-medicine. She aspires to become an obstetrician on Hawaii Island.

The other queens are Michella Kristina Pascua, 21, of Maui; Heaven Lee Fines, 19, of Oahu; Deanna Marie Rapozo, 18, of Kauai, and Rhena Salazar Singh, 18, representing Molokai.
