A 34-year-old North Kohala woman was indicted by a Kona grand jury for allegedly assauting a police officer after a traffic collision.

According to a police spokeswoman, Jannah Kehau Chilton of Pololu allegedly kicked Officer Scott Dewey on April 6th following the crash near the 23-mile-marker of Akoni Pule Highway in North Kohala.

Chilton turned herself in on a bench warrant Thursday at the Kona police station and was booked on suspicion of DUI and inattention to driving, as well as the alleged assault.

She was released after posting $2,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in Circuit Court on Wednesday.
