The 2012 whY Walk, Men’s March to Stop Rape, Sexual Assault & Family Violence, will be staged from 7:30-10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25, in Hilo.
Everyone is invited to join Mayor Billy Kenoi and men from all walks of life as they proudly walk one mile in women’s shoes through downtown to stop rape and raise money in support of YWCA community programs such as Sexual Assault Support Services, Teen Court, Healthy Start, Enhanced Healthy Start, preschool and aquatics.
Submit your an entry fee of $25 per walker and collect a minimum of $100 in pledges to be eligible for a YWCA cap and prizes. Walk individually or form a team with family, friends, club members or business colleagues and help raise money for YWCA programs.
Prizes will be awarded to the top teams and individuals who turn in the most money. Prizes also will be awarded for outrageous shoe designs. All funds must be turned in on the day of the walk
“Please help us reach our goal to raise $25,000 for YWCA Programs,” said a YWCA spokeswoman.
