HCC to offer nonprofit management training
The Hawaii Community College Office of Continuing Education and Training will offer a Not-For-Profit Management Certification Program beginning Sept. 21. This program provides ongoing learning opportunities specifically designed by, and for, those within the nonprofit sector.
“The program includes multiple classes to help nonprofit managers, staff, board members and other key stakeholders strengthen general management skills,” said office spokeswoman Marsha Okajima.
The program consists of eight modules geared to provide basic and essential information. The modules are Introduction to NPO Management, Governance-Legal Issues and the Board/Staff Partnership, Mission, Outcomes & Planning, Financial Management, Human Resource Management, Fund Development, Community Relations/Marketing, and Series Integration-Agency-Based Projects and Analysis. In order for participants to receive certification they must successfully complete all eight modules.
This certificate program is offered in partnership with Kapiolani Community College and is taught by community-based consultants and not-for-profit sector professionals. Classes will be held one Friday and Saturday a month from Sept. 21 through May 17, excluding the month of December, at the HCC Manono Campus.
The deadline to register is Aug. 31. Call or go online for more information, 934-2700 or www.hawcc.hawaii.edu/ocet.
