An Orchidland Estates resident said two helicopters hovered near her residence for a considerable amount of time on Wednesday morning, then flew toward Hawaiian Paradise Park.
Lt. Burt Shimabukuro, commander of the Hilo Vice Section, confirmed Wednesday afternoon that the pot choppers were flying, and said the missions are being flown by the state Narcotics Enforcement Division. Asked if local police are assisting with the operation, Shimabukuro replied: “We do some assisting.” He directed further questions to NED.
