Big Island police have charged a Hilo man and woman in connection with a burglary that occurred last Friday morning in Hilo.

Big Island police have charged a Hilo man and woman in connection with a burglary that occurred last Friday morning in Hilo.

Jesse Idebond Sablan, 36, and Dana Sablan, 21, were charged at 11:10 a.m. last Friday with one count each of second-degree burglary and fourth-degree theft. Bail was set at $11,000 for Jesse Sablan and at $2,250 for Dana Sablan.

Both were being held at the Hilo police cellblock.

Officers responded to a report shortly after midnight Friday that two people had removed two bags of recyclables at a business on Kekuanao‘a Street in Hilo and were fleeing the area.

Both suspects were arrested and the stolen property was recovered.
