Maizie Kawamura Ahuna, 99, of Hilo died July 24 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was an elementary school teacher. Services held. No koden (monetary donations). Survived by son, Lawrence (Gail) Ahuna Jr. of Hilo; daughter, Lawrie (Lee) White of Hilo; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Cecelia “Cissy” Ann Fernandez, 69, Kailua-Kona died July 27 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired waitress at King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel and was also a waitress at the former Reuben’s and Spindrifter restaurants. Visitation 8-10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Kailua-Kona. Funeral service at 10 a.m. Burial at Kona Memorial Park in Holualoa. Casual attire; flowers welcome. Survived by sons, Vernon (Alexandria) Fernandez and Albert Fernandez of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Denise (Jesse) Wilkins of Denver and Natasha (Craig Leong) Fernandez of Kailua-Kona; sister, Dolores Doonan of Carmichael, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; several aunts and uncles, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Shinkichi “Rusty” Oshiro, 82, of Honokaa died July 30 at home. Born in Paauhau, he was a retired journeyman welder for the former Hamakua and Paauhau sugar companies and member of Honokaa United Methodist Church, Hui Uruma and International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU). Visitation 10–11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at Honokaa United Methodist Church. Memorial service at 11 a.m.. Casual attire. Survived by wife, June Oshiro of Honokaa; sons, Stephen Oshiro of Renton, Wash., Michael (Kim) Oshiro of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Philip (Shihoko) Oshiro of Seattle; daughter, Laurie (Theodore) Compehos of Henderson, Nev.; brother, Teruo Oshiro of Mililani, Oahu; sisters, Yoshie Zakahi, Shigeko Oshiro and Arleen Sueno Ah Nee of Honolulu; two grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Juana Soledad Sangeb Queja, 73, of Keaau died July 17 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in the Philippines, she was a laborer for Puna Certified Nursery. Survived by husband, Lorenzo Queja of Keaau; son, Romelene (Emily) Queja of Keaau; daughters, Celedonia Queja, Maxilinda (Valeriano) Visaya, Analyn (Marcial) Delos Santos and Esmeralda (Jayson) Pascua of Keaau; sister, Paula Sangeb of Philippines; brother, Alejandro Sangeb of Philippines; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
