The American Cancer Society honored its Hawaii Island Volunteers of the Year on July 21 at a ceremony conducted by veteran volunteer Nancy Crawford.
“On behalf of the volunteers and staff of the American Cancer Society, Hawaii Island Office, we extend our warmest congratulations to these award recipients,” Crawford said.
l Prevention and Early Detection Award, to Kerri Okamura of KTA Pharmacies.
l Quality of Life Award, to Cindy Waiau-Matus and Carol Okano, Look Good Feel Better Program volunteer licensed cosmetologists.
l Income Development Award, to Lee Lord, County of Hawaii division manager for the Department of Finance Vehicle Registration.
l The John F. Leonard Business of the Year Award, to W.M. Keck Observatories for their continued support of the mission of the American Cancer Society and Relay For Life. Keck Observatories has been an outstanding supporter of the American Cancer Society on the Big Island.
This award was established in honor of John F. Leonard, a local business leader and promoter.
