Former Major League Soccer player Duke Hashimoto has joined Ziggy Korytoski’s coaching staff on the University of Hawaii at Hilo men’s soccer team.

A native of Kapolei, Oahu, and a graduate of Iolani, Hashimoto played with three MLS teams before a stint in the United Soccer League in 2009.

“(Hashimoto) has been successful at all levels of the game … and brings a knowledge and understanding of what it takes to compete at a the highest of level,” Korytoski said.

He begins his first season at the helm of the Vulcans on Sept. 4 in Honolulu against Montana State-Billings.
