The Hawaii Police Department’s traffic services section and the Hawaii Island Police Activities League will conduct Click It or Ticket 3-on-3 Basketball Tournaments on the following dates:
—Aug. 24-26: Honokaa Parks and Recreation sports complex
—Sept. 8: Naalehu gymnasium
The tournaments offer five boys age divisions (5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14), a high school boys division, three girls age divisions (10-and-under, 12-and-under, 14-and-under) and a high school girls division. Youth coaching
workshop Aug. 28
The Positive Coaching Alliance Big Island and the Hawaii County Department of Parks and Recreation will host a free “coaching for winning and life lessons” workshop at 6 p.m. Aug. 28 at the Waimea Community Center. Registration and check-in are at 5:30 p.m., and the workshop will go until 8 p.m. The workshop is mandatory for all youth coaches who will use county facilities for practices and games.
The workshop is free, but there is a fee of $6 to cover the cost of a PCA workbook. Each participant will receive a two-year certification for all parks and recreation leagues and youth leagues.
The registration form is available at the recreation division office at 799 Piilani St. in Hilo and online at hawaiicounty.gov/pr-recreation/ and can be dropped off or faxed over to the office. Attendees can pay for the book at the workshops. Walk-in registrations will also be accepted on the date of the workshop.
