Police arrested and charged a former Pepeekeo man for an attempted burglary Monday morning in Pepeekeo.

At about 7:40 a.m. Monday, a Pepeekeo resident called police after he reportedly saw a man trying to force open a window at his neighbor’s house. The suspect fled the area after he noticed he was being watched.

The 60-year-old homeowner verified that an attempt had been made to enter his home while he was away.

At about 12:20 p.m., police arrested 54-year-old Ralph Curtis Riveira of no permanent address in Pepeekeo. He was charged on Tuesday with attempted first-degree burglary. His bail was set at $25,000, and he was scheduled to make his initial court appearance Wednesday afternoon.
