The Keaau Youth Business Center, an award-winning program, announces a new round of after-school training classes for students ages 13-19.
Participants will have the opportunity to train with professionals in the field and participate in “real world” projects which serve the community and develop skills for the 21st century. Starting Monday, Sept. 10, vocal artist and sound engineer Damon Williams will run an eight-week “Sound Recording/Music Production” class from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Learn the art of music production and pop, island, hip-hop, rock and alternative music in KYBC’s studio.
Topics such as recording, editing, mixing, and mastering will be covered. Students are encouraged to bring their original material for the recording sessions. Fee is $40/person.
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, chef Jon Aynessazian will start a “Culinary Arts Class for Teens” from 3:30-5:30 p.m. High school students interested in the culinary arts are invited to bring their passion for food, catering, and hospitality to this eight-week course. No matter what your experience level is, you can prepare foods that are easy, yummy and healthy. Other kitchen basics will be covered as well. Fee is $40/person.
On Wednesday, Sept. 12, Natec Penn will start the “Video Production For Teens” from 3-5:30 p.m. Students will learn the art of video making, which includes casting, makeup, costumes, set design, camera and lighting techniques, sound recording and editing, while producing a scripted short movie.
