Singer, songwriter and guitarist Kimie Kauikeolani Miner will kick off the third annual Kau Kau Kailua Restaurant Week on Sept. 16 with a free concert to celebrate the beginning of “Meal Deals All Week Long” in historic Kailua Village.
The Kailua Village Business Improvement District is working with Kona eateries to promote the fun week Sept. 16-23, during which participating restaurants will offer specially crafted dinner menus.
Participating restaurants, to date, with more being added daily, include Boston Basils, Quinn’s Almost by the Sea, Bongo Ben’s Island Café, Kona Canoe Club, Kona Inn, Lemongrass Bistro, Huggo’s, Huggo’s on the Rocks, Splasher’s Grill, Humpy’s Big Island Alehouse, Mahi’s Beer Batter Fish ‘n Chips, Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, Ocean’s Sports Bar and Grill, Kona Brewing Company, and The Fish Hopper Seafood and Steak Restaurant.
Miner will take the stage at Kokua Kailua at 5 p.m. to celebrate the beginning of the week-long event which encourages visitors and locals to experience delicious food at a variety of restaurants in Historic Kailua Village.
Miner is best known for her ability to weave acoustic soul, reggae and Hawaiian with a touch of R&B and funk into cool sultry melodies.
Her natural, earthy tone fits well with acoustic and Reggae sounds but then surprises listeners with riffs and runs — and that’s where the soul comes in. Her recent single, “Is This Love,” captures her voice in all three genres.
Anheuser Busch Sales of Hawaii, Y. Hata & Co. Ltd., the American Culinary Federation/Kona-Kohala Chefs Association, and West Hawaii Today are partnering with KVBID as supporting sponsors of Kau Kau Kailua Restaurant Week. The event officially begins Sept. 16 in conjunction with the monthly Kokua Kailua, when Alii Drive becomes a festive pedestrian-only marketplace.
To further promote Kau Kau Kailua Restaurant Week, all participating restaurants are invited to join Kokua Kailua on Sept. 16 in a special Food Court at Emma’s Square to build excitement for the coming week’s enticing offerings.
