The Flying Fish has opened its doors at the Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa. This new retail center and activities headquarters provides a one-stop-shop for visitors and kamaaina looking to rent stand-up paddleboards, kayaks and bicycles, or purchase everything from Olu Kai sandals and Hawaii designer Sig Zane’s colorful tropical print attire, to sun lotion, sun shades and cold beverages.
“Connecting our guests to all there is to do and see on Hawaii Island, the Flying Fish provides ‘local’ information about how best to access Hawaii’s iconic and insider-only experiences,” explained resort General Manager and Area Managing Director Steve Lindburg. “The Flying Fish helps make all of Hawaii Island open and available, kamaaina style, for our guests.”
Flying Fish are found in all oceans, but particularly in tropical climates. This amazing marine animal makes powerful self-propelled leaps out of the water and then glides considerable distances above the surface.
“Equally amazing is the information available from Flying Fish staff who are there to make certain every visitor’s stay is exactly as they’d hoped. What is happening at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park today? Will Mauna Kea be clear for stargazing tonight? Where can I go snorkeling today? How do I book a nighttime manta ray adventure? Visitors can shop for fun, unique items and make reservations for island adventures, a Hertz rental car or the resort’s Haleo luau,” said Lindburg.
“They can get ideas on fun community events or directions to well-known and little-known places from those who know — at Flying Fish.”
