The Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce will present its annual employment law seminar on Wednesday, Oct. 24, in the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel Moku‘ola Room. This all-day event will include a complimentary hardcopy of the newly revised 2012-13 Hawaii Chamber Desk Manual: Labor and Employment Law for Hawaii Employers, continental breakfast and lunch.

Touted as the most cost-effective employment law seminar providing information for Hawaii businesses and featuring the most current human resources and personnel law trends, the presentation will feature attorneys from co-sponsor Torkildson, Katz, Moore, Hetherington & Harris.

“The presenters combine their in-depth knowledge of employment law with their longstanding ties to our community to provide practical, effective advice to both large and small employers,” said chamber spokesman Miles Yoshioka.

This year’s sessions will include: “The Employment Law Year in Review,” “Harassment in the Technology Era,” “Employer Obligations Under Leave Laws,” “Rightful Hiring: Learn about the new EEOC and HCRC rules,” “Social Media and Employee Discipline,” “Employment Policies That Work: Find out the latest updates on policies and practices for your employee handbook.”

The early-bird registration fee is $295 for HI Chamber and SHRM members who register and submit payment by Oct. 3. The early-bird rate for nonmembers is $350. Regular fees of $325 and $375, respectively, apply for registrations received after that deadline. Discounts are also available for multiple attendees from a single business.
