Cal-Bakersfield’s Sam Pena scored in the first half, and Megan Todd and Kiara Burkett added goals in the second half Friday as the host Road Runners beat the University of Hawaii 3-1 in a women’s soccer match.

Coming off a two-week layoff and in its final nonconference match of the season, UH (5-4-2) dropped its third straight.

Midfielder Alex Gerrain scored in the 77th minute, the freshman’s first score of her career, to briefly draw UH within 2-1, but Bakersfield (4-7-1) went on to send the Rainbow Wahine to their 16th loss in theor past 18 games on the mainland.

Senior goalkeeper Kanani Taaca had seven saves for UH, which was outshot 12-10.

Hawaii’s next match will be its Big West debut at 3 p.m. HST on Sunday at Cal State Northridge.
