Entry forms are still being accepted for a keiki triathlon for ages 7-14 at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 20 in Kailua-Kona

The event is a scaled-down version of the Ford Ironman World Championship, which will be held one week earlier, with a 100-yard swim, 3.2-mile bicycle course and a 1-mile run for all but the 7- and 8-year-olds, who will race half those distances.

The Department of Parks and Recreation will accept entrants through Oct. 12. The fee is $5, and forms are available at www.hawaiicounty.gov or at county recreation division facilities, swimming pools and many gymnasiums. Completed forms and payment should be mailed to the Recreation Division, 799 Pi‘ilani St., Hilo, HI 96720.

Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers, both boys and girls, in each age category,

12-under basketball league

The Department of Parks and Recreation is accepting registration for 12 and under boys and girls basketball teams in the Hilo District. The season starts in November and the registration deadline is Wednesday.

Hilo Aikane Tennis Club

The Hilo Aikane Tennis Club will have play from 7 to 10 p.m. Tuesday and Oct. 23 at Edith Kanaka‘ole Multipurpose Stadium. Balls and court reservations are provided, mostly social doubles, club rules, depending on the number of people playing.

Members and guests are welcome to play for nominal fees.
