The Pacific Flippers girls gymnastics team is gearing up for the state championships after winning 37 gold medals at a pair of meets.
Caitlyn Nakata and Mariah Higashi each swept five golds during the first meet, winning nine and sixth, respectively, through two competitions.
The team has another meet Nov. 3-4 before the state championships, Nov. 17-18 on Oahu. Coached by Candi Mullins and her daughter Quinn Nelson, the team trains at 215-B Railroad Ave. in Hilo.
